Cambridge is three old towns wearing one name — Galt, Preston and Hespeler were stitched together in 1973, and each still acts like itself. The Grand River is the reason any of it exists, and it still organizes the place: the Cambridge Mill sits over the water by the Main Street bridge, and the Gaslight District turned the old foundry lands into a square with a beer hall and event space. Blair, on the west bank, is one of the oldest surviving villages in the region. Toyota's plant by the 401 is the area's biggest employer, and Fiddlesticks and Preston Heights fill in the residential middle.
